Welcome to our web site!
The Historical Preservation Society of Upper Township
NJ Inc. was founded in 1978 as a private Section 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. The Society held
its first meeting at the home of one of the original members and currently, meetings are held at the Cape May County Library
(Upper Township Branch) on the second Tuesday of March, April, May,September,October, and November. The Society has
preserved and restored three local landmarks: in 1986, the "Friendship School"
(circa. 1830) 859 South Shore Road (Route #9) Palermo; in 1999,
the "John Wesley Gandy Farmstead" (circa. 1815) 26
Tyler Road, Greenfield, and in 2001, the "Tuckahoe Railroad Station" (circa. 1894)
in Tuckahoe. The Society is funded through membership dues and various fund raising programs throughout the year. A nine-member
Board of Trustees administers the Society, which relies upon an all-volunteer work force.
